Barton Heights project complete

The Barton Heights project was completed last fall and we were able to get photos early this year. To re-cap, the owners loved their home which was in overall solid condition. However…signs began to emerge of some poorly executed renovation work prior to their purchase. This, coupled with the desire for a first floor bedroom and full bath, master bath updates upstairs and a revised kitchen/dining layout led the owners to seek help in re-working their home. The following photos will give you an idea of the new vs. old spaces.

The above and below pictures show the new kitchen/dining space. The demo pic shows the former fireplace (homeowner saved the mantle!), door to the half bath (now entry to downstairs bedroom) and door to kitchen (now closed-off). The rear-facing window opening in the former dining room was re-worked for a door to become the new access to the rear porch. White cabinetry, recessed lighting and pendants give the new space a lighter feel.

The new first floor bedroom encompasses the former kitchen and half-bath. Part of the rear porch was re-framed and enclosed to become the new full bath which is accessed from the new bedroom.

Moving upstairs, we enclosed an area of the dressing room/office to house a stacking washer and dryer, accessed via the upstairs hall. The hall bath layout remained basically the same with new subfloor, sheetrock, plumbing and electrical, tile and paint.

At the rear of the house, we removed all fixtures and finishes down to the framing and added and corrected some framing issues before building it back. The new shower space houses a freestanding tub and dual shower heads. A small water closet within the larger room now houses the toilet.
